Just a general question. In Canada they offer a YAMAHA quick shifter. Not for us in the US. I'm thinking it should be the same as the R1, or just to get one from Canada. Any thoughts?

The US $ is strong compared to the Canadian Loonie. It might be cheaper to buy in the north if you have easy access and shipping is not too much.

Do we have to purchase the FTECU quickshifter kit? I think the quickshifter was $300 on FTECU website and $800 for the auto-blip downshifter kit.

As fz10.org forum members we get a huge discount. $216 for the quick shifter and $720 for the auto shifter. Call Nels for more details, im just a forum owner but will try to get more info.

Guys the $800 kit includes both the auto blipper and the quick shifter kits. Yes, you have to also purchase either the bike or bench side Flashing kit in order to program/enable these devices. I just got mine delivered today along with a Graves system and will be installing tomorrow.

Yep and that kit is coming to the US soon according to my local Yamaha rep. Supposedly the R1 kit is the exact same one as the FZ however they will have separate part numbers in Yamaha's system.

Awesome! ... I referenced $800 so people know which one they are looking at on the FTECU website.... Have you contacted Graves for a matching forum discount? This way people can buy their exhaust and all the FTECU stuff and it will be pre-loaded with a map for the Graves Exhaust...

Actually, 2wheeldynoworks sells Graves exhaust and I/we prefer their tunes as Nels has alot more dyno time on his hands. He has been tuning exhaust for our other yamaha forums for years and his hp and tq readings are thru the roof and he goes over and above for our members. He is the one that Flashtunes turns to for help often, in fact Nels and I just found the FZ-10 that Flashtunes is using to improve their current tune. Not knocking Graves at all, love their exhausts, just prefer Nel's tunes.

FT ECU has also has an auto-tuner coming down the pike eventually. How does one acquire a Nels map if they haven't bought anything from them?

Have you checked their board on this forum? Lots of good stuff and their phone number is in there too. Do you have an FZ-10? Be sure to start a gallery, we accept uploading pics easy peasy.

I did check sometime ago, with shipping it gets a bit too much. I've learned from my dealer that they will give me a better price than the list one on the Yamaha site, and no shipping. I want the YAMAHA one. I'm just wondering if it is worth to have the dealer instal it or myself.

Yamaha sells their US GYTR quickshifter for the 10 for $199.99. What is the difference between Yamahas and the FTECU one? Besides only being able to use it with a flashed ECU?

Is anyone using the Yamaha quick shifter with a flashing kit? And is there any compatibility issues?
I would rather use the Yamaha quick shifter but I need to know if there is any issue using it with the FTecu flashing software.
Any insight appreciated, Pop
