So I got a leftover 2017 a couple weeks ago, zero miles. The dealer had lost the keys for the bike and supposedly replaced them. I’m wondering if they cheaped out and gave me the most basic keys they could. Tried searching if these bikes come with chipped keys standard issue. Any info would be great. My keys definitely are not chipped and they are super basic and cheap as hell. Have no immobilizer light on my screen as I’ve seen In other videos. Sort of pissing me off thinking that’s what they did.

probably wouldn’t of needed to ask other fz10 owners if I had the owners manual. supposedly it’s on it’s way in the mail. Would post a picture of My keys but, because I use my phone the option isn’t there for me for some reason.

We don't have the immobilizer on the US bikes so no chip in the keys

As long as the keys work that is the important thing. US bikes do not have the nanny immobilizer function (thank God). It would be nice if you had the Key Code that comes on a little tag with the Yamaha keys, it makes ordering a replacement easier in the event the keys are lost or damaged.
You can download the owner's manual from the Yamaha website.

I got 2 keys with my bike also a 0-mile leftover 2017, as well as the afforementioned tag. The keys have the Yamaha logo, so if you just got a generic one, make them give you 2 Yamaha blanks and get them keyed. Or let them do it too .

Thanks everyone for the confirmation. I looked up the owners manual shortly after the thread. I do have what was supposed to be with bike. Actually have 4 keys with the bike two other completely steal keys. Anyways Feel like our bikes would be extremely easy to steal, shaved key? My 06 cbr had a chipped key, what is this just a cost saving thing?

Most thefts the bikes are pushed away or thrown in a vehicle so an Immobilizer doesn't do much anyway.

What red is saying sounds legit. Here in europe, a lot of motorcycle thefts are "jump on and ride it like you stole it", so our immobilizer prevents from having a screw diver turn the bike on.
In the US i can imagine most thefts are done with 3 guys lifting the bike into a van, so the immobilizer is just a useless thing there that annoys people when it malfunctions.

Immobilizer is more trouble than it's worth IMO, I'm glad we don't have it. Me too. Just look at the myriad of stranded Triumphs due to that crap. My bike is always garaged, so I much rather have a simple key; one less thing to worry about in an increasingly electronic-controlled world .
