Nice one, cheers, but for what it's worth I'll stick to what I've always done as I have never had to replace a chain due to my own negligence as I have alway bought my bikes used until now.
However, I think that so long as you keep your chain in good order and try to keep the gunk to a minimum so it doesn't turn into a grinding paste then so what? A chain is a consumable and if I need to change one after 3 - 5 years of use then it's no big deal, but my mileage is not huge so I'd expect it to probably last 10 years. Keep it clean and keep it lubed. Simple. If a product MAY wash out the factory grease then it stands to reason that other products with lubricating properties will flow to maintain some sort of protection. Maybe it's a case of trying to balance up the ones which compliment each other?
Thanks again though. Very informative.

Haha, I suppose, although after doing a little search on eBay I found a twin pack 2x750ml of IPone cleaner and lube with a chain cleaning brush for £19.99 or around $26 at M&P which is a Motorcycle and motorcycle parts emporium we have in the UK. CLICK HERE IF INTERESTED

Doesnt sound bad at all. My main problem would be to find it in Finland, or find someone who delivers to Finland without asking a hand and my forst born child for shipping fees Ill keep an eye out for any of the products that passed. As for the brush, i dont trust the stiffness of those brushes to not mess up my o-rings. I just use any old (soft bristle) toothbrush i have. It it doesnt harm my teeth and gums, it wont hurt my o-rings either

I use Maxima, for not particular reason but looks like it did pretty bad so guess I'm going to have to change it up.
Really though, I think how and how often you lubricate your chain has a much bigger effect on chain wear and life. All my chains outlive the recommendations and I apparently am using one of the worst products to clean, at least according to this guy.
And was interesting to see what they say about WD-40 is actually true, at least in theory. That was pretty cool.
Thanks for sharing.

I use Maxima products as well. Believe it’s the best products out there for cleaning and love their chain lube/wax.

Of the bike cleaners I've used, I consider this bike chain cleaner from Anndason is the top chain cleaner due to its precise cleaning ability. Every brush type is designed to fit a particular bike part, so even hard-to-reach areas become easily accessible. In detail, there is cleaning gear for tires, chains, wheels, and sprockets. RedAndBlack is this post spam? It's literally their only post on this forum and it's digging up a 3 year old thread lol

Looks like it, the only thing missing is a link to a website.
