My first track day at Thompson, CT in September 2018. Had a lot of fun, looking forward to many more!

Very cool. Is this your first track day over all or on the FZ? Now you're addicted! I'm looking forward to Chuckwalla here in a couple weeks. Taking my R1 though. I've had my knee down on the FZ on some canyon roads with higher rearsets so I know it'll do well on the track, I just haven't taken it yet.

It was my first track day ever 😊 It's been a long time coming. I'm not sure I'll ever be physically fit enough to move beyond c group, but now at least I have a goal. Knee down? Most likely not.. But that's not the point for me, I just want to improve as much as I can! Too bad the next day isn't until... April? Yay for living in New England.

Practice practice practice, learn learn learn. Take a riding school, talk to other experienced riders and ask for advice. Ask the instructors to give you a tow and show you the right lines to take etc. Smoother is faster, you'll get faster before you know it!

One easy thing you can start working right away is on rev-matching downshifts ; that way you don't upset the chassis when releasing the clutch on a lower gear... plus it sounds cool too. He he. They're super easy on this bike, and I have it in 'STD' mode. You're already looking at where you're going, which is a very important skill, so you definitely have what it takes to start improving quickly. I also would highly recommend you invest in one Superbike School 2-day camp; you would improve like you wouldn't believe. They have several specialty bikes to get rid of typical fears that prevent you from getting better. And you'd be a much safer rider as a result. The goal is to become a better and safer rider, with the ability to extract all the bike has to offer if needed, not to become the #1 at a track event or anything like that .
