Has anyone upgraded them and if so, what did you install?
R1M fit? Thanks

Look up the stoltec moto thread and/or search nissin. The 15+ r1m master cylinder should be a drop in. If you get the r1 master cylinder from babbitts, stoltec moto has a conversion kit with ss lines, banjos, a reservoir, and fluid.

I did the R1 master and brake lines. Made the bike very stout and much more predictable in braking. Also throw on some SBS pads. I felt with the stock brakes. You never knew what you were going to get. Sometimes it would brake great, sometimes too soft, sometimes to hard. Very hard to corner when you're not sure what the brakes are going to do. The brake upgrades definitely solved this and I have tremendous confidence in the brakes now. Did a lot of downhill carving in the canyons this weekend and even when i was approaching corners hot, I was able to get the bike slowed up with some trail braking.

I have to say I'm okay with the stock brakes on my bike. I haven't flogged it yet, but after reading so many negative comments, I was expecting way worse than they actually are. Since I won't track my bike, I don't think I even need to upgrade the lines. Hope to take it for a mountain run before winter sets in, but I'm suspecting I won't find an issue with the brakes the way I ride. I like to ride the curves agressively, but at 'the pace', meaning I'm not rocketing from corner to corner. I like to corner aggressively, but also enjoy the scenery. That method also keeps speeds down, minimizing risk of tickets or accidents. I've done track schools before, and I'm 56, so not training to be the next Marc Marquez. Ha ha.

At the minimum change the pads to some nice sintered pads. They still feel mushy but at least they grab. Hard!
