Hi everyone, I'm getting close to performing my 600 mile service and I was wondering if there is anything other than the oil change that should be checked. I thought I read on here something about checking the timing chain tensioner. Is that something that needs to be checked??? I have no problems doing maintance to my own bike, but I'm just not sure exactly what other things should be checked if needed like the timing chain tensioner. Whats your guys thoughts on this.
Thanks Bigkurka

I’ll get there shortly, and also will DIY. I didn’t even get torque figures for the engine bolts (to install frame sliders next week), so a service manual is a must. Will research where to buy one when I come back home on Sat. Remember to check that all critical bolts have the correct torque as part of the first service. And no, no need to check the tensioner; it’s hydraulic. People that have issues with it is probably defective. I’ve read of only a handful of owners, so not a wide-spread issue at all IMO.

Get your self a GoldPlug to replace the factory drain plug. Use aluminum foil to direct and keep oil off your header when changing the oil filter. Not sure about slider torque specs, but should fairly easy to Google that info. Be sure to add FZ10.org in the search.

Duplicate. Sorry. And yes, have an AP-02 GoldPlug magnetic drain plug on the way👍🏻.

It's basically an oil and filter change, check chain tension, check fasteners and a general look over. Nothing dramatic that you can't do yourself.
The service manual is available on this site. Just download it, no need to buy one unless you need/want a paper copy.

In addition to a magnetic drain plugs it helps to place small neodymium magnets on the oil filter. They help capture the fine steel particles that wear from gearbox and cylinder.
