So i just got done with bleeding the front brakes on my mt, which i have done a hundred times on other bikes. Went for a test ride to test the brakes and they work fine. Came back and saw there was brake fluid leaking from the left caliper bleeder nipple. The right one is perfectly fine and nothing leaking. The left one is leaking but it looks like the fluid is coming out from around the threads. . . wtf?
Is this a bad caliper? I did both sides at the same time and only this one is leaking. . .dunno what to do. Its my everyday vehicle and i need it for work. I cant ride it like this if thats the case. I didnt overtighten the valve or anything like that. AS i said ive done it dozens if times and never had this issue.. . .any advice would be good. I could put plumbers tape around it but by the time i manage to do that i think all the fluid would seep out of the open hole in the caliper.

You might have some debris in or around the thread. Might have to remove the bleeder to clean it or just completely replace it.
I haven't had one leak when fully torqued, but one of my bleeder screws would leak through the thread if I loosened it too much while bleeding.

I thought it could be that I loosened it too much and pulled the lever too hard causing some fluid to go into the threads instead of the hole. Hopefully that's all it is and I can just blast it with brake clean to get it all out. Il have to check it when I get home.

So got home and the bleeder wasnt leaking. Took the bike out to do some hard stops to finish bedding in the new pads. Got the brakes nice and hot, aaaaand. . . leaking. Think il roll up to yamaha tomorrow and have them look at it. 5 years warranty thankfully.

Hopefully the Yamaha dealer will be ok with you installing new pads and then claiming a defect with the caliper system under warranty. They may claim that since you have installed non-OEM parts that voids the warranty for that part. Just be aware of that possibility, some dealers are lenient on stuff like this and some are strict.

yeh my dealership is good, they wont do anything like that. They were the ones that told me about the tuning guys that they use too if i wanted to reflash the bike. I can do my own services and stuff as long as i show proof and it wont void warranty. I have The brake lever full pulled in now and held in place with a zip tie and a cloth surrounding the bleeder valve. Will see in a few hours if it leaks. If it doesnt, then i have no idea whats going on.
