The stock rear tire is 190/55ZR17, can I run a 190/50zr17 instead? I can't imagine it would cause any issues.

Yes you can. The tire will certainly fit. But you will affect the geometry of the bike. You will have a slower turn in and less contact patch when leaned over if I'm imagining this right.

Thanks for the reply. That's kind of a bummer but I already have the tire so I'll just have to burn through it.

Thanks for the reply. That's kind of a bummer but I already have the tire so I'll just have to burn through it. Yea, it'll ride fine in a straight line. I think back in the day, the 190/50 was the standard 190 size. But sportbikes tend to like the taller, more rounded tire so 190/55 became more of the standard. I went from a 180/55 to a 180/60 on my track bike, and that little bit makes a difference, at least when you're going for max performance. Commuting you would probably never notice though.
