Just bought a brand new 2018 MT 10. The dealer got it from another dealer in a crate two days ago assembled it and I picked up yesterday. When the owner went to start it, it took 3 stabs at the starter before it fired up. He said nothing to worry about. I rode home about 80kms and everything seems to run fine. I decided to charge battery last night to make sure it was fully charged. Went to start this morning and on first attempt it started then died one second later hit the starter second time and started. I was wondering does this sound normal? How many times does it take to start your bike. I'm a little worried as I can't remember every having this issue on previous bikes. . Once warm bike starts on first press of starter. Thank you for any replies.

I always leave mine on a Battery Tender so the battery is always in peak condition. Have never had a problem starting but I would recommend just keeping an eye on it. When you say "three stabs" are you just quickly pressing the starter and letting go or is the bike turning over without actually starting while your holding down the starter button?
If you're just hitting it quickly and releasing that could be an issue.

Just make sure you don't turn the key to 'P' position when you put it away after a ride, this position will drain your battery as it allows all the bikes accessories to still operate when the bike is turned off. In short don't turn the key past lock unless you need to. Hopefully this is all the problem is.

If you're cleaning you're not riding

Do you hold the starter down till it fires or does the engine just cycle like there is no spark?
How many miles have you ridden it and did it have any miles on it when you purchased it? Asking since many times they re-crate a bike for transport if it has a ways to go.
If the battery is good and all the cables secure you may need to run some SeaFoam through it to clean its insides. It may have been stored improperly with gas in it without a stabilizer. You could just ride it a couple of hundred miles and see if the issue corrects itself.
If it is under warranty and the problem persists, let the dealer figure it out.
