Hello ! I brought my MT-10 to the dealership for the 6000 km check-up, they told me my rear tire is about 60% done. I'm shipping it from Montreal to Miami, retrieving it there and then heading to New-Orleans, and then back to Montreal through North Carolina and Tail of the Dragon.
By the time I arrive there in New-Orleans, the tire will most likely be done so I'm planning on changing it there, which means I need to find a place and call them to let them know I'm coming.
I've never done any track with it and am not planning to, maybe just a day or two to try it out, so I just do road touring (600 km a day), leaning when there is a nice curve. Living in Montreal, we obviously get some rain but I rarely ride in it, except to go to work and then, october and november are also cold ... So I'm looking for a rear tire that will last quite a bit more than the S20 ... I looked it up here and on other forums but didn't get a very clear answer because I saw people mentioning Michelin Pilot Road 3, 4 and 5, Metzeler Roadtec 01 or Pirelli Angel GT ...
However, from what I've seen, the PR4 seems to be the best choice for my riding style.
Do you have any recommendation ? Thank you !

The new Metzler Sportec RR's are supposed to be great long lasting tires. They are first on my list when the time comes.

The new Metzler Sportec RR's are supposed to be great long lasting tires. They are first on my list when the time comes. You mean the M7 RR ? I have used the Roadtec 01 on my Tiger 800, they stick really well and appear to be wearing well, I have around 1200 miles on them, if you are just street riding, any of the sport touring tires should be fine. I have also used Bridgestone T30's and Continental Road Attack 2 EVO's on the same bike and could push it hard enough to drag the pegs. I tried a set of the Angel GT's on the Street Triple R I sold when I bought my FZ10, they all seemed to do well also. Unless you are really pushing them to track level paces which is hard to do on the street they should offer grip and mileage, they may steer heavier, and weigh a bit more but if you are riding the distance you are they are worth looking at. Most hypersport tires I've used I get around 3k miles from and sport touring tires around 6k miles, the stock tires on the FZ were down to the wear bar at 1700 miles, the S21's I replaced them with have about 1000 miles and look like I will get about 2500 miles from them. I will probably try some Metzeler's either the Roadtecs or the M7RRs due to the fact there is a rebate on them right now, the M7RR are good tires also but the wear rate is higher than the Roadtec but I like them and the S21's for faster street riding, they also have good wet grip.

I'm currently trying a dual compound BS T-30.
Used the T-30 on my 630lb FJR and got 11000 miles out of my rear tire with it.
Hoping for at least that much on the much lighter FZ10. I live in Florida so unlike the 318 curves in 11 miles at Deals Gap we have 11 curves in 318 miles here....jk

You can't go wrong with the PR4's at all. I put a set of Pilot Road 4's on my CBR600RR as soon as the stock ones were done. I found they worked great for me (I don't do track days), but I do ride pretty aggressive and throw it into the corners and never had problems with the PR4's slipping at all. They work great in the rain too. As soon as my stock tires are done on the FZ10, I'll probably look at PR5's now, cause I know I'll get at least 10K out of a rear if not more. My PR4's on the 600 had almost 6K on them and the middle was just starting to get the tiniest flat spot. Also...super jealous you are doing the dragon! I'm in Fredericton, and headed down to do the cabot trail next week with a buddy and a full run around Nova Scotia along the coast. Will most likely make an attempt down south next year to do the dragon. It's on my bucket list

I went to Cabot Trail last summer with my FZ-07, I absolutely loved it, except for the construction work ahah ! It'll be my second time at the Dragon, first on the MT-10, you should definitely go there and do the Skyline Drive / Blue Ridge Parkway on the way down

I'm running the Roadsmart III on both my FZ1 and FZ10 and absolutely love them. They grip plenty well enough for me and so far after a few thousand miles on each bike their wear rates are looking good. They turn in easily and supposedly have the same profile as the Q4. I ran T30 EVOs on both bikes prior to this and hated that tire. They wore quick overall and wore down especially quick on the cornering sides leaving me with a V profile tire that absolutely sucked.

I think I'm going to get a PR4 or PR5, depending on the price difference. Being french, going with Michelin feels normal ahah !

I just put a PR5 rear tire on last week. When I was shopping around for prices, the PR4 was actually a few bucks more than the PR5.

Sorry, not yet, I only have about 100 miles on it. Only thing I can say in the limited time I've ridden on it is it feels like it wants to lean over quicker than the stock tire. Not sure if it's a stiffer carcass so it just tips quicker or what. Sorry it's a bit vague, it's hard to describe and I don't have much experience riding on the tire yet. I'm sure there's plenty of other people who have thousands of miles on the PR5 who can give opinions.

No problem, I just ordered it through Revzilla, I'm having it delivered to a shop in New Orleans.
