Hello everyone! I’m new here but have been a member over on the R1-forum for a long time. I am strongly considering trading my ‘15 R1 in on a used ‘17 FZ-10.
I have done a fair amount of upgrades to my R1 and I’m curious what I’ll be able to convert over to the FZ. Please see the list below and offer your advice on what you think will work;
Satin red Carrozzeria’s (95% sure these will bolt right up) Translogic blip assist w/ pitlane warmup R1M polished swingarm Lightech chain adjusters Air filter Block off plates SC Project 3/4 exhaust GB covers Rizoma oil cap Lightech bar ends
I am also extremely ignorant to what tuning options are available for the FZ. Is there an option for a mail in flash or is it simply Ftecu and auto tune?
Thanks for your insight

With the tune there are many options. You can send the ecu to be flashed but I'd suggest a custom map to be made on the dyno. I'm getting my one done in a few days. The issue is no bike is identical to another, there are too many factors at play. So when you send the ecu away the reflash is a generalised map that will work with all mt10. Custom map is made from scratch for your bike specifically on the dyno. Takes about 6 hours to do and can be tailored to your liking. Either way both are fine to do but custom map costs much more than sending the ecu to be flashed.

I've also seen great results with an FTECU autotune. Thanks for the feed back

The exhaust will be iffy. Mainly because if the rear sets and the actual depth of the slip joint part that goes on the headers. It'll work with a lot of mods/money.

nicholasv00 - The exhaust will probably not work without some kind of modification. I put a Yoshimura 3/4 system for the 2015+ R1 on my FZ10. If you have aftermarket rearsets you'll have a better chance at getting it to work. The muffler mount on the OE rearsets will hit the muffler or pipe if it is meant to hug close to the footpeg on the R1 (FZ10 pegs are lower). I had to use aluminum flat stock to make a bracket to attach to the muffler. I bolted it to the passenger footpeg mounts on the subframe. Do you have the stock pipes for the R1? Put those back on and trade it in, keep the SC Project exhaust and see if it will work on your 10. Worst case you can sell it and put the funds towards a setup specific for the 10.

Thanks smanz. Aren't you on another forum for the Gen2 model. I'm sure quite a few guys have moved to the Gen3. My Gen1 was so good I didn't think I would get a Gen2...I didn't like the looks at first. Now the Gen1 looks pretty ancient...ha ha. My Gen2 looks badass and my new Gen3 is already ridiculously modified and I've just made a list of final mods that will pretty much have it about as good as it can get...except for the exhaust...which I'll do over the winter. It will be full titanium for sure...Akro, Graves, SC Project, Austin? I'll research it to death and talk with some tuners and forum members before I make such a big purchase.
