so ive heard the bmw s1000rr when brand new bmw has the power turned down on the engine until your first break in service, is that true with the fz10?

No. The bike is able to reach it's full potential from the factory.
BMW does something, presumably with their ECU, where they limit their bikes until the first service. This is arguably just some bullshit to require you so your first service at a BMW dealer.
Honnestly I don't know much about it other than talking to some BMW owners.

Morning All!
Just chiming in on this one. I have a bud who just bought a bmw s1000rr and yes, it is restricted to a lower RPM limit until the 1st service is done. After the $300.00 oil and filter change (and inspection?) they open the ecu for full rpm performance. Haven't rode with him yet to see how it compares performance wise to the FZ-10!

The only thing that was set on mine was the shift light was set at a minimum rpm recommended for break-in but otherwise you could ride it like you stole it.

So we should be happy our MT-10s are permanently detuned compared to European markets, right? Ha ha.
