I was installing bar end mirrors and removing the stock mirrors, when I ran into a hiccup.
The nut at the base of the right side mirror just won't budge so the mirror is stuck on the bike, but the left side came free no problem. The nut is almost stripped and I don't want to attempt to remove it unless I know it will loosen up some.
Wondering if there's a trick to removing the nut from the base of the right side stock mirror, or if anyone else had trouble loosening the right side nut?
I'm sure wd40 will work but I'd feel more confident if anyone else thinks it's a good idea, or if you have any other tricks.

I'd have never imagined the mirrors were cross-threaded, like centerlock wheels... but Yamaha did it backwards. WTF? If anything, the left should have been reverse threaded, not the right one. I'd like to know what the hell was their thinking. Ha ha. But learned something new today. And glad I did, since I plan to replace the mirrors too.

To be honest, the thread effed me up too. 😁 Agreed! Riding home from the dealer my right mirror got pushed loose by the wind and i couldnt get it tight enough without tools. 😡

Guess they did it that way in case bike falls, so they'd loosen up, rather than breaking something.

Oh wow... I wish I found this thread before I took off the stock mirrors. I ended up breaking off the entire mirror bolt on the right side, lol.
