Looks like my best bet is Motul 10W-40 then. Anything to help with the tick! OMG 🤞🏻 Motul 300 is considered a full race oil. Although its generally agreed that the internals operate smoother, the oil supposedly breaks down quicker than most. You'd have to change your oil more often.
At like $20 a bottle, It is completely overkill for most. I don't even recommend running any of the "Racing" oils unless you ride your bikes really hard. The only reason I run Mobil Racing 4T is because I only do track and ride canyons and often in desert environment. As long as your oils meet the recommendations in the owners manual, it is sufficient for probably 90 % of all motorcycle riders. Oil is something you can absolutely save money on, as long as it meets the requirements and you regularly change it. You won't have any issues that justify paying an extra $10 per bottle for oil.

This is how I see it as well. I’m pretty dang sure the Yamalube is slippery enough for my motor. If/when something breaks or wears out on my FZ-10, I highly doubt that it’s gonna have anything to do with which brand full synthetic motor oil I used. I haven’t looked in a couple months, but this was the best price I’ve found on Yamalube: www.motosport.com/yamalube-full-synthetic-oil-with-ester?avad=55963_c11f733ad&code=MS-AF-AL-LINK&utm_campaign=Affiliates&utm_source=AL&utm_medium=Affiliates&commsource=alOrders over $75 also get free shipping, so buy 9 quarts at a time (enough for two oil changes). Plus, they carry 15w-50, which I had a bit of a hard time finding. I ride in very hot weather, so I like the slightly heavier viscosity.

Thread resurrection. Rotella has 5/40 or 15/40, do any of you run that? I ran it in several of my last few bikes without issue, but don't remember what viscosity or if Rotella used to have T6 in 10/40.

So if you're not storing or using it at below freezing temps, it's probably not a big deal to most people. I know plenty of people who run Rotella and swear by it but I never personally have used it.

I've been using the Yamalube 10W40 with the Yamaha filter because Yamaha gives a 100k mile /20 year engine warranty if you use their oil and filter (and follow the change schedule) so why not lol

I’m getting my first service and was asked what type of oil I want to put in the bike. I told him whatever came in it but he easy saying Yamaha-Lube comes in standard, semi synthetic, or full synthetic. I went with standard this time around. What should I go with next time? Hi- Recommended to use 15W-50 Fully synthetic for CP4 engine by Yamaha (at this side of world...) My R1M & MT-10 came with factory Yamalube SAE 15W-50. For my R1M, i used Shell Advance 15W-50 from Ducati since Yamalube was out of stock. New stock of Yamalube 15W-50 came while first oil change of MT-10 and used that. Shell Advance 15W-50 is similar to Yamalube 15W-50 and performance is good on R1M (no problems)... *Note: Make sure to replace or use washer at drain bolt and rubber seal at filling plug. i had oil spilling issues due to missing seals and washers...

I ran Rotella in other bikes and have a bunch of track junkie friends that have used it for years with zero issues. I didn't think the viscosity cold rate would make much difference. I went ahead and ordered some Super Tech full syn 10-40 though because it was the same price.

I use Shell Advance exclusively in my Kawasaki 600 supersport and it performs wonderfully, shifts great. I take it if the oil is up to par for high level Ducati engines (hot!) it should run great in our machines too. Even though I was tempted to try Motul 7100 from the recommendation of a famous race shop here. So far the MT10 is still on Yamalube but it may be drinking Shell soon too.

Rest of world it is manufactured by Motul (rest of the world).

Correction it 10-40 amsoil. Would like to magnetize my drain plug or buy one or just put a magnet on it . I have a magnet on my filter can't wait to see what that picks up . But clutch shavings or aluminum bits I hope the filter picks up.

I'm using a PC racing reusable filter it has a pre magnet built in the filter but wanted another in the pan to catch anything else left , it probably extreme but why not.

I changed my oil at 600 miles using the non synthetic Yamalube. My dealer felt using non synthetic for the engine break in would be better for it. I don't run the bike at warp speed all the time, so I'm not concerned about engine wear. I have 5 quarts of Yamalube full synthetic and a filter waiting in my garage for the 4000 mile oil change.

There is that train of thought, but that is typically for bikes that do not require synthetic oil. Our bike, at least according to the manufacturer specs, requires fully synthetic oil.
With that being said, I don't imagine any harm will come to your bike and I wouldn't bother changing it, especially if you do so at 4000 miles.

If you want a magnetic drain plug just get a Gold Plug (MP-02), it has a magnet and you'll get rid of the stupid standard hex key bolt and have a proper bolt you remove with the proper size socket. I've only had a thin film of metallic paste on the magnet, not excessive. It's better than nothing but I don't think it's doing a whole lot. Everybody has opinions about oils, I've used Rotella T6 in the past with no issues but have used a Yamaha filter and Yamalube 15W-50 full synthetic on this bike. Everything good and tight after almost five years.
