So I bought a used 2017 FZ10 about 2 weeks ago from a dealership and i noticed it has the quick shifter light on but there is no QS installed. The guy before me put some sealant over the QS plug so there obviously was one on it at one point but my main question was there ever a 2017 package that included a QS? I looked on the ECU and there is no stickers on it too indicate the ECU being flashed to install the QS. The way I understand it to install a QS the ECU has to be flashed for the bike to recognize it? Thanks for the help!

That's my understanding as well. I didn't see the QS light until after my ECU was flashed.
But I don't think the QS came standard on any models except the SP which us only available in europe

The 2017 US model did NOT have the QS shifter as standard equipment, it was an aftermarket purchase at MSRP of $200. The ECU did not really require a reflash in the standard sense, the stock ECU already had the logic of the QS in it's memory, it just needed to be turned on which was done during the initialization process after installation. It sounds like the previous owner had a QS installed and removed it before selling it. If you buy a QS all you have to do is install it and you are good to go, if you don't want a QS just ignore the light and carry on without it. The QS system doesn't engage if you use the clutch so you can just ride as normal if it isn't installed.

I was more so hoping that someone had already flashed the ECU so that I could get it done at possibly a discounted rate. But I appreciate your guys help and info!

Hi everyone, popping my cherry here with my first post. So Funny enough I just noticed the same thing on my bike. I just had my ecu flashed @2wheels and noticed QS light is on now. I was reading something about a 10 second activation? Maybe I did that by mistake? Now that the light is on, I can just install a quick shifter right? Any help would be great Thanks!!

Yes you can just install the quickshifter now and don't have to do the activation sequence. 2WDW just enabled it directly with the ecu flash.

Just plugged it in and it works great.
