So my battery died on me during this winter, I took the battery out, charged it and went to put the battery back in i put in the wrong way and ended up plugging the positive terminal into the negative and the negative into the positive.(SO FREAKING STUPID) When I did this the bike made some kind of noise and I immediately took them off and switched them back how they where supposed to be, but in the mean time I blew up the main 50 amp fuse coming off the positive side of the terminal, I have replaced the fuse and the battery the bike will start but not rev. Does anyone know why this could be happening, did i fry my ecu? Any comments will help.
Update:
I bought the adapter offline and using a WI-FI OBD reader it read a P0638(Throttle Actuator Control Range/Performance) code. I attempted to clear the code with the WI-FI OBD and restarted the bike and same problem still exist. Should I buy an actual wired OBD or just take the bike to the dealer?

you need a dealer with yamaha tool , or a OBD reader plus cable to reset and delete errors

Hopefully the fuse took the brunt of it. I would start with what ghost Rider said. If the issue is oursistent, you might've cooked some wires and would have to run down the wiring harness checking all the wires out.
But that's worst case scenario. Like I said, hopefully the fuses blew and that was it.

Have you checked "electonic throttle valve fuse" in the left side panel?
I've made the same mistake like you, then it was broken.
That's why i found this thread.

I took the bike to the dealer and they said the ecu was fried, they ended up getting the ecu replaced by the factory warranty.

Very lucky it got covered under warranty! Guessing you never told them the full story of what happened and just said it started acting up one day. Glad it's sorted, but in future be careful! New ECU is NOT cheap and could have been a big nasty bill if the dealer didn't get it sorted for you under warranty.

The dealer said when they read the ecu it told the whole story lol, it still got covered though so I was happy. |
