Hi Flow makes oil filters with the same 17 mm nut welded on the end for easy removal. HF303RC is same filter but just has nut on end of the can. Shop where I work sells them for same price as std 303's. We don't sell K&N anymore after several failures. HF's are about 1/3 cheaper than K&N for an added benefit. They also make the RC in 204 size which fit other sport bikes as well. K&N recognized their failures a couple of years ago and had a recall on the 204 filters over a specific time range due to a change in production to Thailand. (I think many filters now come from Thailand). I had one on my bike and a spare one on the shelf, I took a pic of the date codes and they FedEx'd me two replacements on the agreement I would discard the two bad ones. I have one of the new ones on the bike now and no issues. I think they were an isolated event and they have corrected the production issue. It happens. But I can see why some people would remain gun shy.
I have no idea where Hi Flow's are made, but if it is Thailand I suspect it is the same factory that makes K&N's.

Wouldn't doubt Hi Flow makes the K&N in Thailand at all. I've been using their 204's & 303's on my Yamahas without any issues for several years now.

Can anyone confirm if the KN-204-1 is correct for a 2019? For the life of me, I can't find any information on any manufacturer's website or even in the OEM factory service manual. It's like they're intentionally trying to keep this stuff secret...

Haven’t ridden it yet but I don’t anticipate an issue. I also used the 204 on my prior 2011 fz-8 and didn’t have any issues.

I will always use OEM oil filters they just work and no one ever has anything negative to say about them so why wouldn't I? I've had friends that have within this current riding season has Wix, K&N, and a few other brands I can't recall the names of fail but never one of them have had any issue with OEM, and OEM filters are some of the cheapest ones you can buy so its a win-win in my book.
